Back in the art room at PLAY, grown-ups sometimes asked me if I ever noticed kids who seemed to have particular talents for art. My answer was, when kids are in the mood, we give them the right materials, and mostly stay out of their way, they all make paintings that are interesting, true, and beautiful. I believe that, and also that all kids should have the opportunity to do it!

We offered Messy Art (parent/caregiver-and-child painting) on 3rd Street for 17 years. Now, post-art-room, I love my mobile set-up, which happens to conserve water too, and I’m so excited about the partnerships that allow PLAY to offer low- and no-cost process-based art experiences to kids in Head Start programs. We want to do more of this work, so if you’re a program director in need of art specialists for ages 2-5, or process-oriented art staff development for early childhood educators (with an additional focus on using eco-friendly materials), please get in touch! Info about private, outdoor classes is HERE.

Thanks & hope to see you soon : )
